Import Taxes, Tariffs, etc.

Before you order, we suggest you inquire in your own country concerning these items. Your plant/import agencies can assist with any questions you may have. Canada Only!
Canada has always required imported plants be Brokered. You must decide on a Broker prior to import. Brokers typically charge a fee. Canadian Plant Protection can advise you on this matter as well as any duties.

Taxes, tariffs, or any other import fees or permits must be paid by you. Fees of this nature are typically based on plant value. Shipping fees, insurance fees, & cleaning charges are not a part of plant value. We separate these charges to avoid over taxing. Plant value is stated in 3 locations in your shipping documents:
1. Declaration of Contents
2. Insured Value
3. US Customs forms

This deposit will not be refunded unless we cannot comply with import regulations or we are unable to fill your order as requested.

We ship to many countries. To date, we have never had a plant customs agency decline our documents or plants. We use a step by step process that ensures clear communication, correct preparation, and a successful transition.

How the Process Works...from Order to your Door

1. You send us the plant order. 2. We provide the total cost to you for approval.
If you provided a credit card number, there are no charges until you approve the total.

You may decline at this point. No charges are due.

3. You approve the total cost.
If you have paid by credit card, we bill 20% of the plant value at this time. If you are paying using another method, you may elect to pay all at this time or separate payments. We provide the deposit due date & balance due date.

The 20% deposit formally reserves your plants.

4. If your country requires an import permit.
You must mail or fax it at this time. This is an important document that must be enclosed with the shipment. If this is not required, you disregard this step.

5. International orders are consolidated to specific dates.
This gives TOTAL FOCUS to your documents, plant preparation, inspection, & packing. The Target Ship Date is communicated to you.

6. Two weeks prior to shipping:
We provide your destination data and plant count to the plant inspector. This data is recorded on the Inspection documents that travel with your plants.

Your work is now finished until the plants arrive in your country. Please read the remaining steps so you will fully understand the process and your responsibility.

7. On Shipping Day:

8. After the carton(s) is delivered to the carrier:
(US Global Express Mail)
We contact you and provide the shipment data including tracking number(s).

Note: We will be tracking your order. However, the relationship with each country is different. To some destinations, we can only track to “Entry into your country”. We encourage you to track also. More data will be available to you once it enters your country. Time in transit is typically 4-7 days.

9. Plant Customs:
Your plants will enter customs and be directed to a plant inspector. Your carton(s) may be opened and the plants inspected. This is the only time your carton(s) will be opened. Both plant appearance and correct document presentation are critical steps in approval. This process usually takes one day.
How customs clearance interacts with any responsibilities you have concerning duties, taxes, tariffs, etc. is Country Specific. Before your plants ship, you should know how this works and be prepared.

RETURN
